Photographers:

Following on from our workshop last week on Aperture, this week we will be learning about exposure, and how to properly expose an image. Bring your cameras (and yourselves!) to Westgate Wetherspoons on Wednesday (tomorrow!) at 2pm.

Models:

We have a first Modelling workshop this Thursday 21st October in Eliot Seminar Room 1, starting at 7pm. Come along to meet other models and learn more about modelling at Kent !

Newsletter – Week 3

Hey Guys and Girls,

Photographers: This week’s meeting will be all about aperture! We will meet again on Wednesday at 2pm, but this time the location will be the Dane John Gardens by the gazebo. Bring your cameras, and see you all then!

Models: I am afraid there will not be a meeting this week ! Massive Apologies ! We are planning a workshop for next week! Details to follow!

Please remember to pay your membership fees at Mandela Building or on the Kent Union website. £5 !!

Scavenger Hunt!

Hey Guys and Girls!

The next Photography meeting will take place on Wednesday (October 6) at 2pm. We will meet outside Westgate Wetherspoons. This will be a fun meeting – it will be a ‘Photo Scavenger Hunt’. The Hunt will give you the chance to brush up on your Photography Skills and find some interesting and new places in Canterbury. Models are also welcome, it will be a great chance to meet each other and have a laugh. Photographers, be sure to bring your cameras!

As you may know we have two committee positions these are:

Photography Vice-President
- You will be assisting the President in running the weekly workshops, and give direction to the nature of these workshops. You will also give input into the activities the Society does.

Treasurer
- You will be managing the funds of the society, collecting the membership fees and budgeting for events and photo-shoots the society does. You will also give input into the activities of the Society.

If you feel that a committee position is for you, email me with a little blurb of why you want the position? What can you bring to the society which, maybe new, exciting and advantageous?

First Meeting!

Hey Guys and Girls !

Welcome to the UKC Photography and Modelling Society !

Hope you all had a great summer and even greater start to your year at the UKC !

We have our first meeting this Thursday 30th September at 6pm in Eliot Seminar Room 1. Come along to see what we get up to, meet some great people and most of all have a laugh!

The plan of the evening is to gain information about the activities planned for the society this year, followed by some fun games to get to know each other better. We will then head down to Mungo’s for some pre-drinks and end up at the Venue to see Andy C !

Welcome Week 2010

The Photography and Modelling Society would like to welcome all new students to the University of Kent! Please feel free to browse the site and get to know a bit more about us. We do have a couple events lined up for Fresher’s Week:

• We will have a booth at the Fresher’s Fayre on Thursday, so come check us out! Assuming all goes well (and we have electricity), we will have our Studio set up, and photos will be free!
• We will also be setting up our Studio in Rutherford Bar before the Fresher’s Ball on Saturday night from 7pm. Photos are £2 each – not a bad price for your souvenir of the evening! For more information, take a look at the facebook page.

We are in the process of setting up a new fan page on Facebook (click here to see it). We will be posting updates there, so please click the ‘Like’ button to stay in touch!

Newsletter! 4th April 2010

Hello! Happy Easter!

Hope you’re all ok and not too bogged down with work… I’m putting off my 2 essays by writing this! Bad times.

We are in the process of planning some workshops, shoots and socials for next term for a bit of light relief from revision and exam stress! Watch this space!

 

Photographers:

There will be no meeting this week because it is the last week of term and we all have deadlines to focus on (boo). Fear not though, as this is not the end of the society for the year! There will be trips, shoots and socials next term to make the most of the lovely summer term weather!

 

Weekly Competition:

Due to the absence of submissions for the past few weeks, we will be pausing the weekly competitions until further notice…

Newsletter! 28th March 2010

Hello boys and girls! I hope you’ve all had a fun weekend

Have you checked out the Fashion Show article in the centre of InQuire? If you haven’t, you can pick up free copies from places such as Essentials or Mungo’s!

Rituals Lock-In:

Girls – don’t forget about our exciting girly lock-in in Rituals in town (next to Swarovski) This fun event will be all about pampering, with free hand massages, makeovers, tea, strawberries and more!! Do come along, it’s this coming Tuesday 30th March, 5:30-6:30pm and we’ll meet outside the shop. This might be a fun opportunity for us to have a girly dinner afterwards, so keep this date free!!!

Photographers:

This week’s meeting will be on advanced editing; bring your laptops along and we’ll show you guys how to use masks and layers in Photoshop for selective editing. Remember, meetings are in Eliot Seminar Room 1 at 5pm.

Weekly Competition:

This week’s competition topic will be the season ‘Spring’

Workshop Opportunity:

The university will be running a workshop on ‘Portraits’ in May… Please find details attached to your email!

 Hello everyone, Happy Monday!

First let me say a huge WELL DONE and thank you to all those who took part in the Fashion Show, the show was a great success and all you models looked awesome!! Gloda has videos of the show – you can find them at: www.gloda.net/s/fashion10

Models:

Having now hopefully caught up on sleep again after the Fashion Show, we have an exciting event coming up! There is a shop in town called Rituals who would like to invite all the girly models (sorry, guys!) to a luxurious lock in with things like free hand massages, makeovers, tea, strawberries and more!! This is set to be an exciting session and is fixed for the 30th March! More details to come soon, get excited!

Photographers:

This week you will be talking about camera care which includes how to store your equipment, how to keep it safe in extreme weather conditions, how often you should get them cleaned and checked professionally, and how and what to clean by yourself!   Remember – the meetings are at 5pm in Eliot Seminar Room 1 every Wednesday.

Those photographers who have photos from the Fashion Show (was a great turnout!) can you please post them on to Flickr when you have finished editing them.

Competition: Congrats to Gloda for winning this week’s photo competition! Next week’s topic is ‘sleep’.

Fashion Show 2010!

The UKC Annual Fashion Show is set to take place on Saturday 20th March 2010, Eliot Hall, 7:30pm!

This is going to be a really great show so come along and watch the students of UKC strut their stuff on the catwalk!

We will be modelling clothes from shops such as Fat Face, Armoire, Punkyfish and lots more!

Tickets are now on sale from Mandela – £5 which includes free entry and queue jump to Venue afterwards!

This is set to be a great event so make sure you get your tickets soon so you don’t miss out!
